Karnataka: AIMIM Seeks Permission To Celebrate Tipu Jayanti At Idgah Maidan In Hubballi
AIMIM which is helmed by Asaduddin Owaisi along with some Dalit organisations submitted a memorandum to the corporation commissioner seeking permission to celebrate Tipu Jayanti
The Idgah maidan in Karnataka's Hubballi which was recently at the centre of controversy in the month of August once again back in focus after All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) approached Hubballi-Dharwad corporation seeking permission to celebrate Tipu Jayanti at the maidan.
The party which is helmed by Asaduddin Owaisi along with some Dalit organisations submitted a memorandum to the corporation commissioner seeking permission. Later, Sri Ram Sena also produced a memorandum seeking permission to celebrate Kanakadasa Jayanti at Idgah Maidan. The Idgah maidan was recently at the centre of the controversy over the celebration of Ganesh Utsav.
The Mayor told news agency ANI that religious activities can be done at Idgah Maidan but no big leaders will be allowed. Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that it's a matter related to Hubballi-Dharwad Mahanagara Palike and the Mayor.
In a tweet, news agency ANI said, "After Supreme Court's nod to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in Hubballi Idgah Maidan, Dalit organisations and AIMIM submitted memorandum to civic authorities seeking permission to celebrate Tipu Jayanti. Sri Ram Sene, too, gave memorandum seeking permission to celebrate Kanakadasa Jayanti there."

Mayor Orders Renaming Of Idgah Maidan
Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) Mayor Iresh Anchatgeri directed the commissioner to rename Idgah Maidan after Rani Chennamma, who led armed rebellion fight against the East India Company in 1824.
This order come after BJP Corporator Santosh Chavan brought this issue to HDMC's attention in August. The Mayor told reporters that there is no official name for the ground.
