Karnataka: 40 Arrested As Four Cops Injured In Stone Pelting In Hubli Over Social Media Post
A complaint was filed against a person for uploading a video on social media and he was arrested then it racked up to scuffle, said the police official.
New Delhi: In a stone-pelting incident on Saturday, four policemen including an inspector were injured. Miscreants hurl stones at Old Hubli Police Station. After a case was registered late at night, 40 persons involved in the violence were taken into custody on Sunday, said Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner, Labhu Ram, as quoted by news agency ANI.
A complaint was filed against a person for uploading a video on social media and he was arrested then it racked up to scuffle, said the police official. After the scuffle police have imposed section 144 to bring the situation under control.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, "Police will not hesitate to take stringent action against those who take law into their hands. We will act against those who instigated it too. Let us not give political colours to it: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Hubballi stone-pelting incident," as quoted by news agency ANI.

According to an NDTV report, police used tear gas and resorted to a mild lathi charge to disperse the mob, officials said, adding that prohibitory orders have been imposed in the city following the violence.
"Six cases have been registered against those involved in the violence. The situation is under control now," said Labhu Ram, Police Commissioner, Hubballi-Dharwad, as quoted by NDTV.
