Day After PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah To Visit Poll-Bound Karnataka Today
Amit Shah In Karnataka: The union home minister is scheduled to arrive in Bengaluru, the state's capital city, a day after PM Modi visited the poll-bound state.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hoist a 103-foot-high national flag and dedicate the 'Gorata Shaheed Smarak' and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel memorial at Gorata ground in Bidar district on Sunday.
The senior BJP leader will then fly to Gabbur in Raichur district, where he will address a public meeting and take part in an afternoon inauguration and foundation laying ceremony.
In the evening, Shah will attend an event hosted by the 'Non-Resident Gujarati Samaj' in Bengaluru.
Later, in an apparent attempt to court the two dominant communities, Lingayatas and Vokkaligas, in poll-bound Karnataka, where elections are scheduled for May, the BJP leader will unveil statues of 12th-century social reformer Basaveshwara and Bengaluru city founder 'Nadaprabhu' Kempegowda on the premises of the 'Vidhana Soudha.
Shah will also be in attendance at the BJP's core committee meeting.
After PM Modi's Visit On Saturday, Karnataka To Welcome Home Minister On Sunday:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a strong pitch for the return of the ruling BJP in poll-bound Karnataka on Saturday, lashing out at politics of manipulation, and addressed a public rally in Davanagere after receiving yet another rousing reception in his seventh visit to the southern state.
The PM completed a busy day of public appearances that included a tribute to the legendary Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and a Metro rail ride on a new route inaugurated by Modi.
In yet another stinging attack on the Congress, he said it sees Karnataka as an "ATM" to replenish its leaders' coffers.
Seeking a resounding mandate for the BJP's second consecutive term in Karnataka, Modi said a stable government led by the saffron party was essential for the state's rapid development.
Upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections:
The Congress has released the list of 124 candidates for the Karnataka assembly elections. The schedule for assembly elections in the southern state has yet to be announced by the Election Commission. In the southern state, Congress is attempting to depose the BJP. The main opposition party in the current Assembly, which is attempting to unseat the BJP, has announced candidates for 124 seats.
