'Not A Family Issue': HD Kumaraswamy On 'Obscene Videos' Case Involving JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna

HD Kumaraswamy said that the case has nothing to do with his family as Revanna's family lives separately.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy said that the"obscene videos" case involving former minister HD Revanna and his son and party Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna is not a family matter. The father-son duo was booked on Sunday night in a case of sexual harassment and stalking, as per a PTI report.

HD Revanna is the son of former prime minister HD Devegowda.

Based on a complaint by their cook, the case was registered in Hassan's Holenarasipur police station, the PTI report added.

The complainant, who said she is a relative of Revanna's wife Bhavani, alleged that Revanna used to sexually harass her when she started working four months ago. She also alleged that Prajwal used to make video calls to her daughter and have "vulgar conversations" with her.

The cook also alleged that there was a threat to her life as well as other members of her family.

HD Kumaraswamy Reacts

Kumaraswamy questioned the timing of bringing up the issue claiming that Prajwal is winning in Hassan.

"...Who released it (videos) 3 days ago and why was it not released earlier? why the old issue has been released at the time of the election... SIT has been formed, let the truth come out and anyone who commits a mistake will have to face the consequences as per the law of the land," he said.

"In Hassan's election, our candidate (Prajwal Revanna) will win. Everyone says that...I asked the Congress leaders why they were bringing the family name into this, talk about the individual, this is not a family issue...this is the matter of Revanna's family, and we have nothing to do with it. They live separately...," he added.

Congress Govt Slams JD(S), BJP

Karnataka Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar slammed the JD(S) and BJP saying such an incident "has never taken place in our country and the world."

"Prajwal Revanna is a JD(S) MP from Hassan. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra knew about such CDs and videos as BJP leader Devarajegowda wrote a letter to BY Vijayendra and also spoke with him," she said.

"When Amit Shah came to Mysuru, BJP leaders Preetham Gowda and AT Ramaswamy insisted not to form an alliance with JD(S). Despite having all this info, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and PM Modi formed an alliance...Our CM has formed an SIT but I just want to know the stand of the BJP," said the minister.

"Where is NCW chief Rekha Sharma? Where is JP Nadda, why is he not saying anything? I want to know if BJP will remain in alliance with JD(S) or not...," she added.
