Karnataka BJP on Saturday announced that they would stage a protest against the state government's failure to curb the severe water crisis in Bengaluru on Monday. Stating that he has never seen such a crisis in the past 30 years, Karnataka Leader of Opposition R Ashok attributed the issue to the allocation of over 5 TMC of water to Tamil Nadu by the CM Siddaramaiah-led government.
On BJP to protest against the govt over the water crisis in Bengaluru, LoP Karnataka and BJP leader R Ashok said, "We are facing drought all over Karnataka and drinking water problem, especially in Bengaluru. This is a big crisis. I have never seen such a crisis in the last 30 years."
"We are seeing this for the first time because the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah, has given more than 5 TMC of water to Tamil Nadu. So we are facing the problem in Mandya, Mysore and Bengaluru. On Monday, we will protest against the failure of the government," he said.

As the monsoon failed in September last year, Karnataka declared drought conditions in 195 taluks, including regions within Bengaluru. The figure was later increased to 216 out of 236 taluks across Karnataka, including Mandya and Mysuru districts, the places crucial for Bengaluru's water supply.
