Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway: KSRTC Revises Bus Fare For Newly Inaugurated Highway — Check New Rates

The user fee is applicable only for the passengers traveling in the buses operated exclusively on the express highway.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) revised user fees for passengers travelling in KSRTC buses operated on Bengaluru-Mysuru's new express highway on Tuesday.

The KSRTC revised the user fee on Karnataka Sarige buses to Rs 15, Rajahamsa buses to Rs 18 and other buses/multi-axle buses to Rs 20 per passenger.

In a release, Chief Traffic Manager of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation said, “Levy of user fee for the passengers travelling in the KSRTC buses operated on Bengaluru-Mysuru new express highway.”

“National Highways Authority of India has started collecting user fee for buses operating through the first phase of newbs, constructed express highway between Bangalore-Nidhaghatta at Kaniminike toll plaza on National Highway No-275 Bengaluru-Mysuru route from March 14, 2023,” it said.

The Chief Traffic Manager said: “With a view to offset the cost, KSRTC is constrained to levy a user fee of Rs. 15/- per passenger travelling in Karnataka Sarige buses, Rs. 18/- in Rajahamsa Buses and Rs.20/- in other buses/multi axle buses. This user fee is applicable only for the passengers traveling in the buses operated exclusively on the express highway. User fee will not be levied in other services. This is the practice followed across all the toll roads.”

Meanwhile, reports say that private bus operators are also mulling on hiking the bus fares.

The expressway was inaugrated by PM Modi on Sunday and the NHAI has started to collect tolls from Tuesday. However, a section of the population condemned the revision by stating that the sum was "exorbitant".
