Bengaluru Apartment Fire: LPG Leak Leaves 2 Dead, A Few Feared Trapped
The billowing smoke and fire trapped a woman and she was unable to escape due to the mesh of her balcony which left no space for her to jump.
Chennai: Two persons including a woman were charred to death after they were trapped due to a LPG fire accident in their apartment in Bengaluru on Tuesday evening. Along with the two persons, few others are also feared to be trapped in the building while officials have rescued five persons.
The visuals from the place showed a woman screaming for help on the four-storey apartment building as fire charred her.
According to a report on The News Minute, the deceased were residing at Ashrith Aspire Apartment near IIM Bangalore near Bannerghatta Road on the fateful day when fire started engulfing their apartments and smoke started billowing from the place. However, some of them managed to escape the fire through the facade of the building.
Yet, the billowing smoke and fire trapped a woman and she were unable to escape due to the mesh of her balcony leaving no space to jump. The identity of one of the persons who was charred to death could not be found.
The officials said that the cause for the fire was a LPG gas leak followed by a cylinder blast on the top second floor of the building with four floors. The fire department was immediately alerted around 4.41 pm. The fire department rushed fire tenders to the spot and two fire engines were equipped to douse the fire.

After a two hour effort, the fire was brought under control but four of the 75 housing units were damaged. The officials are further investigating the damage of the building.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police Srinath Joshi told Deccan Herald that one of the persons was shifted to the hospital while two others are trapped.
