Apartment Complexes In Bengaluru With More Than 3 Covid Cases To Be Declared Containment Zone For A Week: BBMP
Karnataka on Wednesday reported 21,390 fresh Covid cases and 10 fatalities, pushing the state’s positivity rate to 10.96% in the last 24 hours.
New Delhi: Amid the ongoing surge in Covid cases across the country, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) sent an advisory to the housing societies and apartment complexes in Bengaluru on Thursday.
According to the advisory, an entire housing complex would be declared a ‘containment zone’ for a minimum of seven days if more than three residents test positive for the virus. The advisory further mentions that all the other residents will also be tested, apart from a detailed contact tracing and surveillance.

The BBMP has also issued several guidelines for the housing societies apart from the ones issued by the government. It said all residents, house helps and visitors are to be thermally screened on entrance and hand sanitisers should be provided at the entry gates, the common areas such as floors, railings, that are frequently touched by a lot of people, are to be sanitised with sodium hypochlorite, bleaching powder or any other effective disinfectant. The walkways and parks can be used only after ensuring Covid appropriate behaviour, common social media groups of the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) must encourage the vaccination campaigns using official communication materials shared by BBMP. Use of gymnasiums and swimming pools are to be avoided and in case of operations, all protocols issued by the Central and state government have to be adhered to.
Any event or gathering at the community hall should be avoided and if unavoidable, the BBMP has capped the number of people attending the event to 50. The community shall also cooperate with the officials in time of testing, vaccination and survey of Covid related activities.
