Special courts set up to try MPs, MLAs in criminal cases

New Delhi [India], Feb. 26 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Monday set up some special trial courts to deal with cases against elected Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs).

The high court designated Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar and Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal of the Patiala House Court to preside over the special courts.

The case hearings will begin on 1 March.

This step was taken in adherence to the Supreme Court order to expedite the procedure of case hearings against the MPs and MLAs.

The high court has targeted to dispose of such cases within a year by handing over the cases to the special courts. (ANI)
