Sexual assault case: Bail granted to accused Kerala priest

Kochi (Kerala) [India], July 25 (ANI): The Kerala High Court on Wednesday granted conditional bail to Malankara Orthodox Church priest Father Job Mathew, who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman.

The bail was granted on the condition that he will surrender his passport and appear before the investigating officer twice a week.

Father Mathew moved to the High Court this week after a Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Thiruvalla rejected his bail application.

In June, the Crime Branch registered a case against four priests of the church for allegedly sexually assaulting the woman in Kottayam.

One of the four priests surrendered on July 12. (ANI)
