Rahul attacks PM Modi on Rafale deal, unemployment
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], Aug 11 (ANI): Setting up the tone for the upcoming assembly election in the state, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government on various fronts.
Addressing his first rally here at Ramlila ground ahead of the state elections, the Congress Chief highlighted loopholes in the purchase of a Rafale aircraft.
"The UPA government had bought an airplane for Rs 540 crore, while Prime Minister Modi himself gave Rs 1600 crore to the French company for one aircraft as per the new deal," he claimed.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi's speech in the Parliament during the no-confidence motion debate, Gandhi said the former claimed to be the 'chowkidaar' of the country, but could not even answer a single question on the Rafale deal.
The Gandhi scion further accused the ruling government of failing on all fronts, including job creation, the safety of women and loan waivers for farmers.
"During the previous general election, Prime Minister Modi had promised 2 crore jobs, Rs. 15 Lakhs in every account and women's safety, but they failed on all fronts. The Prime Minister waived off loans worth Rs. 2,00,000 crore of 15 businessmen, but when questioned about farmer loan waiver, Mr. 56 inch, who gives lengthy sermons, had nothing to say," he noted.
Gandhi also reiterated that women in the country had to be safeguarded primarily from BJP ministers.
"Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao, BJP ke netaoon se," he added.
Gandhi's day-long visit comes as part of the party's election campaign ahead of the state elections at the end of this year. (ANI)
