PM Modi is for poor: Ravi Shankar Prasad

New Delhi [India], Nov. 27 (ANI): Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi understands both poverty and poor very well.

Prasad in a veiled attack on the Congress Party said it seems like some people are really upset with India becoming an honest nation and the fact that prime minister is working for poor.

"He understands the pain of the poor and poverty and he is working for the economically backward class of the country. He is trying to make the poor a part of India's development. The schemes of the government are for the poor and they are reaping its benefit," Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

Prasad said it is painful to see such baseless allegation being levelled against the Prime Minister by the Opposition and expressed confidence of sweeping the upcoming Assembly Elections in Gujarat.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi said he might have sold tea to earn a living, but never sold his nation, responding to a picture, which Congress' volunteer group tweeted last week, making fun of prime minister's origin.

"The Congress dislikes me because of my poor origin. Can a party stoop so low? Yes, a person belonging to a poor family has become the prime minister. They do not fail to hide their contempt for this fact. Yes, I sold tea but I did not sell the nation," Modi said while addressing a rally in Rajkot. (ANI)
