Kansas shooting: Victim's father urges detailed probe

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 17 (ANI): The father of Sharath Koppu, the Indian student who was shot dead in Kansas City recently, urged the authorities to investigate the incident to see if there was another angle to the intent of crime.

Speaking to ANI, Sharath's father, Koppu Ram, said that if there was another angle, other people coming to the United States, especially students like his son, would be able to take better precautions for situations as such.

"I think the police authorities should investigate in these angles as well. Besides the criminal and his background, they should talk to the restaurant owner, eyewitnesses at the scene," he said.

On a related note, a suspect involved in the incident was killed on Monday.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Marlin Mack, was shot down in a gun battle with the police.

The authorities also confirmed that the encounter had left three undercover officers wounded.

Koppu, a student of the University of Missouri, Kansas City, was reportedly shot dead by unidentified miscreants at a restaurant in the city on July 6.

The victim's cousin said Sharath had received five bullet injuries.

He was shifted to a hospital in the vicinity immediately but he succumbed to his injuries, his cousin added. (ANI)
