Jammu bus stand blast highlights: Grenade explosion injures 19; area cordoned off

Jammu: A bomb blast took place at Jammu bus stand on Thursday, news agency ANI reported. As per reports, the blast took place due to a grenade explosion.
As per latest reports, nineteen people were injured in the explosion the took place inside a bus. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The police has cordoned off the area around the bus stand. A team of forensic experts reached the spot to investigate the blast.
According to eyewitnesses, a loud explosion was heard inside a bus. Initially, people thought it was a tyre burst but when they reached the spot it was found out that a grenade has exploded there.
"It was a grenade explosion, it has caused injuries to approximately 18 people, all shifted to hospital," MK Sinha, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu said. A senior police official said that the forces are working on gathering information on who could be possible behind carrying out the blast.

"I thought it was a tyre burst. it was a big blast. The locals took the injured to the hospital in an ambulance," news agency ANI quoted one of the eyewitnesses as saying.

The law and order situation in the state is off the hook after security forces carried out a major crackdown on terror outfits and separatist leaders post the dastardly terror attack on a CRPF convey in Pulwama, which accounted for the lives of over 40 CRPF personnel. There have been reports of over 50 cease fire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control and the international border in both J-K and Punjab.
