Illegal immigrants' issue: Haryana CM awaits central survey

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], Aug 07 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said that the state will decide on the resigtration of the illegal immigarnts, after the issue is taken up by the Central Government.

"A decision regarding this will be taken at the Central level. After that we will act, as and when the states are directed. A registration of such kind should also be done at the national level," Khattar told media.

The Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition parties had clashes over the NRC draft issue.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee went a step ahead and warned of 'bloodbath' if NRC is implemented. She also predicted a civil war kind of situation.

The final draft, which was released on July 30, included names of 2.89 crore people out of 3.29 crore applicants, in Assam. It left out names of nearly 40 lakh people. The list has been updated for the first time since 1951, to account for illegal migration from nearby Bangladesh.(ANI)
