"I have followed the orders of the court," Haryana CM said. Rejecting that he will put down his papers, Khattar said, "We have done our work sincerely, those who are asking for resignation, let them ask."

It may be recalled that widespread rioting occurred in many districts of Haryana after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the religious leader of Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS), was convicted of rape on 25 August 2017. The violence began in Panchkula and later spread to other parts of the states of Haryana and Punjab. Reportedly, more than 35 people were killed and more than 300 others were injured. The majority of the deaths happened in Panchkula.
