Delhi rape: DCW chief appeals for death penalty

New Delhi [India], July 17 (ANI): Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Tuesday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to award death penalty to accused in connection with alleged rape of a six-year-old girl in the capital.

"Her internal organs are damaged. Doctors say they don't even know if she can be cured. Her mother is a beggar and father a rickshaw puller. They sleep on footpaths. I appeal to court and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to award death penalty to the culprit," said Maliwal who visited the girl and helped in her rehabilitation.

The girl was allegedly kidnapped by a eunuch on July 14 when she was playing. She was found in a pool of blood with injuries around 11.30 pm. (ANI)
