Chhattisgarh Govt. increases minimum wages of workers

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], September 27 (ANI): The Chhattisgarh Government has announced the rates of variable Dearness Allowances (DA) on the minimum basic salary for workers, working in various scheduled plans.

For the unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled workers, the DA has been increased to the tune of Rs. 130 per month.

With the increased DA, the new rates for the minimum wages for the state's workers will be effective from October 1.

The highest skilled workers will get more more than Rs. 10,000 per month.

According to the new rates announced by the Labour Commissioner and the authorities in the state, a monthly salary of Rs. 10,660 has been fixed under zone 'A' rate of Rs. 410 per day for the highly skilled workers.

The officers of the Labour Department said that according to the new rates, the total wages of unskilled workers will be Rs. 325 per day and Rs. 8450 per month by adding variable dearness allowance per day, while within the unskilled category, under zone 'B', a monthly of Rs. 8,190 as per the value of Rs. 315 per day will be provided. The monthly salary of Rs. 7,303 with Rs. 305 per day under Zone 'S' will be given to the workers.

The officials said that the changes for agricultural labourers have also been announced as per the allowance of dearness allowance.

In the inefficient category, at present, the minimum monthly pension of Rs. 6,900 per month is fixed at Rs. 230 per day, whereas in the case of variable dearness allowance, they will be eligible for a minimum wage of Rs. 7020 per month.

Officers of the labour department told that workers working in the Tobacco and bidi industries will also get Rs. 80 and 20 paise (per bidi) remuneration for making one thousand bidis. (ANI)
