AAP backs TDP's no-confidence motion

New Delhi [India], July 19 (ANI): A day ahead of the crucial no-confidence motion discussion in the Lok Sabha, a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) delegation met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence on Thursday to seek cooperation for its fight against the Center demanding justice for Andhra Pradesh.

TDP Parliamentary Party leader Y.S.Chowdary along with party MPs K.Narayana, Malyadri Sriram, Nimmala Kristappa and T.G.Venkatesh met Kejriwal and handed over TDP President and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N.Chandrababu Naidu's letter seeking support for the issue.

"The Centre is being ruled by BJP's dictatorship. It's a Hitler-like government (Hitlershahi ki sarkar hai). It has become a threat to structural federalism. The power of states is being continuously taken away. This government assured Andhra Pradesh to give them Special Status. However, they have betrayed them. They have backed out of their support," AAP leader Sanjay Singh told media here.

Meanwhile, TDP leader Y.S.Chowdary said that the Centre has "totally ignored" the rights given to states.

"In the Constitution of India, it is very clearly written that the political parties may be different from each state. They (Centre) have totally ignored each and every thing and they are not allowing states to function independently. That's the matter which has to be discussed tomorrow," Chowdary said.

Meanwhile, when asked about TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy's decision to not attend the session on no-confidence motion, Chowdary said: "That's an internal matter. It is being sorted out."

On the first day of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament on Wednesday, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan accepted TDP's no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government.

This is the first time that when the BJP-led NDA government will face such a motion.

Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday announced that all opposition parties have come to a consensus to move the Vote of No Confidence Motion in the Monsoon Session.

Before that, on Sunday TDP President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu wrote letters to non-BJP, non-Congress parties' presidents and Parliamentary party leaders seeking support on a no-confidence motion.

Thereafter, the TDP made six-subgroups of the party leaders, who met and handover Chandrababu Naidu's letter and a booklet explaining the injustice done to the state and seek the support of various parties. (ANI)
