Tricolour flag (green, yellow and red),representing the Indian Independence movement, also known as Vande Mataram flag was created after the partition of Bengal in 1905. It had eight white lotuses on the upper green band which represented the eight provinces. It had a sun and a crescent on the bottom red band and ‘Vande Mataram’ was written in Hindi on the yellow band. In the picture is a slightly modified version of the flag raised by Bhikaji Cama on 22 August 1907, at the International Socialist Conference in Stuttgart, Germany./ Source: Wikipedia
