Ideas Of India: Priyanka Chaturvedi, Poonam Mahajan To Dive Deep Into 'Left, Right Or Centre: Where Is India Headed?'
'Ideas Of India Summit,' a flagship event hosted by ABP Network, serves as a platform where influential figures convene to examine the rich tapestry of India, with its similarities and distinctions.
The third edition of ABP Network’s ‘Ideas of India’ Summit will feature the who’s who of politics as well as distinguished persons from diverse fields in enthralling debates on critical issues facing the nation and the world today. To be hosted in the country’s commercial capital, Mumbai, over two days on February 23 and 24, before the crucial Lok Sabha elections comes calling, the voices at the summit will go in-depth into the myriad aspects of the upcoming electoral battles.
In one of the many sessions scheduled to go down over the two-day summit, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi and BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP, Poonam Mahajan, will debate on: ‘Left, Right or Centre: Where is India headed?’
Formerly a national spokesperson and a prominent leader of the Congress, Chaturvedi left the grand old party in 2019 and joined the undivided Shiv Sena, which was then a part of the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra under the chief ministership of Uddhav Thackeray.
Opening up on her decision to separate herself from a party where she cut her teeth into politics and rose to prominence, Priyanka said she had certain ambitions that she felt she couldn’t pursue by being with her parent party.
Growing into her role in Sena (UBT) and establishing herself as a prominent and eloquent Opposition voice, Priyanka has not shied away from taking potshots at the BJP-led National Democratic at the Centre on a range of issues — be it the split in the Sena and the change of guard in Maharashtra or the numbing blow to the MVA following a similar rupture in the NCP triggered by the exit of Ajit Pawar and his band of loyalists.
In a recent swipe at the Centre, countering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to Opposition members to refrain from disruptions and set the right example in parliamentary conduct and discourse in the ‘Budget Session’, Priyanka said the former should introspect on his participation or involvement in parliamentary sessions over the last 10 years.
Currently representing the Mumbai North Central constituency of Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha, Poonam Mahajan is the daughter of late BJP stalwart Pramod Mahajan.
Stepping out of her father’s shadows after he was assassinated on April 22, 2006, Poonam carved a niche for herself in the BJP and Maharashtra politics. She served as president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the BJP’s youth wing, before being entrusted with bigger roles in the party.
