New Delhi: The government has set a target to build a new India before the 100th year of independence, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi giving the call for "Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas-Sabka Vishwas" (everyone's support, everyone's development and everyone's trust) to work towards that goal.
On India's 75th Independence Day last year, PM Modi laid out the blueprint for a "new and self-reliant India". He pitched for a "100 per cent India", saying it was essential to fully utilise the country's capabilities to take it to new heights in the 21st century.
To achieve its mission of a "new India", the government is working to ensure 100 per cent of villages have roads, 100 per cent of households have a bank account and100 per cent of eligible people have a gas connection.
Education, skill development, bank credit, water conservation, health and nutrition, electricity, housing, ODF, waste disposal, road, internet, LPG are some of the target areas of the government in its quest for a "new India" by 2047.
