ABP Ideas of India: Infosys Founder Narayana Murthy To Share Vision On Leveraging IT For A Better Future

ABP Network’s two-day Ideas of India Summit will see an array of thought leaders, visionary businessmen, cultural stars, and civil society pioneers talk about the many ideas of India.

New Delhi: Information technology has been one of the greatest success stories of India. What started with an effort towards early development of computer technology went on to make India a major player in the global tech industry. The IT sector is now a pillar of modern India.

In 1967, Tata Consultancy Services was established in Mumbai, and so was born India’s IT services industry. Within ten years, India started exporting IT services. And the country already had an ‘IT park’ by 1973, in Mumbai, in the form of a software export zone, SEEPZ.

Infosys, another IT leader in India, was established in 1981, and the NYSE-listed global consulting and IT services firm is now a $15.64 billion company with a market capitalisation of approximately $106.44 billion.

The IT-ITeS sector contributes nearly 10 per cent to the country’s GDP, and India is now considered the fastest growing IT hub in the world. The government’s Digital India programme is preparing to make the country a knowledge future.

So, what are the areas India should work on to leverage digital technology to better its future?

NR Narayana Murthy, the founder and chairman emeritus of Infosys, will share his vision on this and more at ABP Network’s ‘Wild Stone presents Ideas of India’ summit in Mumbai this week.

The first edition of the ABP Network’s Ideas of India Summit will bring an array of thought leaders, visionary businessmen, cultural stars, and civil society pioneers who will take the stage over two days (March 25-26), in more than 25 sessions, across more than 20 hours, to talk about the many ideas of India, thinking about its past, pondering over its present and contemplating its future.

The special session, ‘The Machine Mind’: Leveraging Digital Technology — Bettering India's Future’, featuring Murthy will take place on Friday, March 25.
