Coronavirus Updates: India's Covid-19 case tally crosses 35 lakh mark with a spike of 78,761 new cases and 948 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total active cases in the country is 7,65,302, 27,13,934 people have been cured/discharged/migrated & 63,498 deaths have been reported so far. Till now 26 lakh people have recuperated from Covid-19. India’s case fatality rate has fallen to 1.81 percent. Case fatality rate is the proportion of deaths caused by a certain disease compared to the total number of people diagnosed with the disease during a particular period. The total number of samples tested in India up to August 29 is 4,14,61,636 including 10,55,027 samples tested on Saturday, says Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Unlock 4 guidelines: Metro rail allowed to operate with conditions, schools to remain shut Government of India on Saturday announced guidelines for ‘Unlock 4’, which will come into effect from September 1. As per the new guidelines, Metro rail will be allowed to operate with effect from September 7 in a graded manner, while schools, colleges, and other educational institutes will remain shut for students up to September 30.

This comes on a day when India's daily new case numbers surpassed those of the United States and Brazil -- the two countries worst hit by the pandemic.
