Omicron Cases In India Over 950. Delhi & Maharashtra Report Over 250 Patients Each | Check State Wise List

Delhi and Maharashtra have reported more than 250 Omicron cases in the last 24 hours with Delhi at 263 and Maharashtra at 252.

New Delhi: The Omicron cases in the country have nearly reached the 1,000 mark as India reported a total of 962 Omicron cases in the last 24 hours. 13,154 new Covid-19 cases were registered on Wednesday. 

The total active caseload has reached 82,402. 

Delhi and Maharashtra have reported more than 250 Omicron cases in the last 24 hours with Delhi at 263 and Maharashtra at 252. The number of fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours was 268 which takes the death rate to 1.38 percent.

The daily positivity rate stands at 1.10 percent and the active case count still constitutes less than 1 percent of the total cases. The number of people who recovered in the last 24 hours was 7,486 at a recovery rate of 98.38 percent.

However, the Omicron scare is still hovering around as the number of cases doubled up in Delhi and Mumbai in the last 24 hours. As a consequence, many states have imposed restrictions on New Year’s celebrations to curb the spread of the new variant. 

Delhi government has imposed the yellow alert leading to restrictions on public transports, public gatherings, and other services like schools and educational institutions, and gyms have been shut again. Apart from the restrictions, the 50 percent capacity rules have been implied on Delhi metro and bus services. 

Amid this, vaccination seems to be the only weapon against the fatal Omicron variant. So far, 143.83 crore doses of vaccine have been administered in the last 24 hours.

From January 1, 2022, registration for children will also begin in the country, and for those above 60 years of age with comorbidities.
