Covid Vaccination In Mumbai To Resume From Friday; BMC Gets 61,200 Doses Of Covishield, Covaxin
The BMC also informed that inoculation will resume at the government centres and its centres from Friday.
Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday said the Covid-19 vaccine stock will reach Mumbai tonight and distributed to all vaccination centres on Thursday.
The BMC also informed that inoculation will resume at the government centres and its centres from Friday. “50,000 doses of Covishield and 11,200 doses of Covaxin will be given,” the BMC added.

Earlier on Tuesday, only 58 state and BMC-run centres were operational for vaccination in Mumbai due to vaccines’ shortage and several people had to return home disappointed.
The BMC had said that 50 percent of the doses will be administered to those with online appointments, while the rest will be used for those who opt for walk-in registration.
The country’s financial capital has been facing a shortage of vaccines since the beginning of this month.
The BMC had earlier suspended inoculation at civic and government-run centres citing vaccines’ shortage.
Maharashtra reported 8,159 new Covid-19 cases, 7,839 patient discharges and 165 deaths in the past 24 hours.
The total active Covid-19 cases in the state are 94,745 and the total discharges are 60,08,750 while the death toll stands at 1,30,918.
Meanwhile, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 41.54 crores.
Cumulatively, 41,54,72,455 vaccine doses have been administered through 51,36,590 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 a.m. today, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry said in a release, adding 34,25,446 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
Asserting the Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of Covid-19 vaccination throughout the country, the Health Ministry informed the new phase of universalization of vaccination has commenced from June 21.

Out of the people infected since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,03,90,687 people have already recovered from Covid-19 and 36,977 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.
