Covid Update: India's Daily Rise In Cases Nears 9,000-Mark, Sharp Spike Recorded In Last 24 Hrs

New Delhi: India has again recorded a sharp spike in the Coronavirus cases as the country logged over 8,000 cases again on Tuesday. The country registered 8,822 new infections in the last 24 hours, according to the data updated by the health ministry. The daily positivity rate now stands at 2%.
India's active caseload currently stands at 53,637 which is 0.12% of the total cases which has surged to 4,32,45,517 after the addition of fresh infections. The country's recovery rate climbed to 98.66% as 5,718 people recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The total recoveries now stand at 4,26,67,088.
15 fatalities in the last 24 hours have pushed India's infection tally to 5,24,792.
Maharashtra Covid status
Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 2,956 fresh cases of COVID-19, further adding to a surge that started a few weeks ago, and four new deaths linked to the infection, while the active tally crossed the 18,000-mark, the health department said.
With these additions, the state's COVID-19 tally reached 79,15,418, while the death toll increased to 1,47,875, the department said in a bulletin.
The bulletin said 2,165 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative count to 77,49,276 and leaving the state with 18,267 active cases.
The coronavirus recovery rate in the state stood at 97.90 per cent.
Mumbai recorded 1,724 fresh cases, accounting for a bulk of the statewide infections, and two fatalities linked to the respiratory illness.
