Covid Update: India Reports 30 Deaths In Last 24 Hrs. Fresh Cases Continue To Spike
According to the data shared by the Health Ministry, 30 people succumbed to the deadly Coronavirus pushing India's death toll to 5,22,223.
New Delhi: India continues to witness a surge in Coronavirus cases as the country logged 2,541 fresh infections in the last 24 hours taking the active case tally to 16,522.
With the daily spike in cases, India's positivity rate is also registering a sharp rise and is now at 0.84%.
According to the data shared by the Health Ministry, 30 people succumbed to the deadly virus pushing India's death toll to 5,22,223.
The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded as 98.75 per cent, the ministry said.
An increase of 649 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The weekly positivity rate is at 0.54 per cent, according to the ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,25,21,341, while the case fatality rate was 1.21 per cent. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive have exceeded 187.71 crore.
Delhi
Delhi on Sunday reported 1,083 fresh COVID-19 infections with a positivity rate of 4.48 per cent, while one person died due to the disease, according to the health department.
A total of 25,177 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the city a day ago. The infection tally in the national capital now stands at 18,74,876 and the death toll at 26,168, according to a PTI report.
The capital had registered 1,094 COVID-19 infections on Saturday, the highest since February 10, with a positivity rate of 4.82 percent and two deaths.
Karnataka
Karnataka recorded 60 fresh COVID-19 cases and zero fatalities on Sunday, taking the total infections in the state to 39,46,934. For almost a month, the fatalities have stood at 40,057 due to nil COVID-19 deaths, said the state health department in a bulletin.
Of the total infections, Bengaluru Urban district saw 57 while Chitradurga, Dharwad, and Vijayapura reported one infection each. There were zero infections in 27 districts of the state.
