CoWIN App Registration: One thing different for students is that instead of a mandatory Aadhaar, or Driving License, or Passport, children can be registered using their school ID cards.
New Delhi: As India is gearing itself amid a likely third covid wave and looming omicron variant scare, the nod has been given for vaccination of adolescents between 15 and 18 years of age along with the "precautionary dose" for those above 60 years of age and with comorbidities.
The process for getting a jab is the same as earlier, that is, register on the CoWin app or website and reach the vaccination centre during the slot allotted. However, one thing is different for students, that instead of a mandatory Aadhaar, or Driving License, or Passport, children can be registered using their school ID cards.
Dr R S Sharma, Chief of CoWin platform said on Monday that this provision is made with the thought that many children might not have an Aadhar or other documents.
“Children in the age group of 15-18 years will be able to register on the CoWIN app from Jan 1,” he said.
