Sony To Hold State of Play In September? Here's What We Know

In a recent episode of the Game Mess Mornings podcast, Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb stated that the next State of Play presentation is “almost certainly” scheduled for September 24. This aligns with his previous comments, where he mentioned that Sony was preparing a State of Play livestream for September.

Although Sony has yet to officially announce a broadcast, it is expected that the company will soon unveil a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn, which recently appeared on the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) website. The first rumors of a Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered project surfaced in 2022.

Grubb also hinted that Sony might reveal another remaster project during the upcoming State of Play livestream, in addition to providing updates on future releases from third-party developers.

On September 10, Sony introduced the PlayStation 5 Pro in a technical presentation, showcasing the new console's features and enhancements. The PS5 Pro will be available for pre-order starting September 26, with its official launch set for November 7 in select markets.

Earlier this week, a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn for PS5 and PC was listed on the ESRB website. The remaster is rumored to include enhanced lighting, upgraded textures, smoother animations, and a range of accessibility options along with other quality-of-life improvements.

Recently, Sony has been criticized for its approach of focusing on remasters and remakes of already popular titles. The company has either released or announced updated versions of relatively recent games, such as The Last of Us, Marvel's Spider-Man, The Last of Us Part II, and Until Dawn, leading to mixed reactions from fans and industry observers.
