Elon Musk Is All Praises For Google's Latest AI Tool; DeepMind CEO Reacts
The praise from Musk came in response to a post by DeepMind co-founder and CEO Demis Hassabis on X (formerly Twitter).

Elon Musk has given a rare shoutout to a rival AI company — and it’s turning heads in the tech world. The outspoken billionaire praised Google DeepMind’s latest video generation model, Veo 3, calling it “awesome” just days after its grand debut at Google I/O 2025.
Veo 3 Wows With Audio-Visual Realism
Veo 3 is the latest evolution in Google DeepMind’s AI video generation efforts, combining cinematic-quality visuals with realistic audio — something most competitors haven’t yet achieved. Unlike OpenAI’s Sora, Meta’s MovieGen, or Runway’s Gen-4, Veo 3 includes ambient sounds, effects, and spoken dialogue, giving its creations an almost uncanny sense of realism. Since its unveiling, the model has been sparking intense online buzz, with viewers questioning whether clips were filmed in real life or entirely AI-generated.
Musk Applauds, Hassabis Acknowledges
The praise from Musk came in response to a post by DeepMind co-founder and CEO Demis Hassabis on X (formerly Twitter). Musk kept it short and direct: “It is awesome. Nice work.”
It is awesome. Nice work.

Hassabis was quick to reply, keeping the exchange cordial and professional: “Thanks Elon.”
In his original post, Hassabis shared his own admiration for what Veo 3 represents. "It’s kind of mindblowing how good Veo 3 is at modelling intuitive physics. Our world models are getting pretty good, & in my view has important implications regarding the computational complexity of the world - the last line of my bio for me has always been the ultimate quest," he wrote.
A History of Mixed Signals from Musk
This isn’t the first time Musk has tipped his hat to Google’s AI efforts. He previously commended Veo 2 as well. However, Musk’s broader view of Google’s AI strategy has been more critical. In the past, he slammed Google’s Gemini model over alleged bias and flawed image outputs, fueling debates about ethics in generative AI.
Meanwhile, Musk’s own AI venture, xAI, is preparing for a massive infrastructure play, reportedly planning to deploy a million GPUs near Memphis. The move could strengthen Nvidia’s dominance in AI hardware, while setting the stage for Musk’s next move in the rapidly escalating AI arms race.
Whether it’s admiration or rivalry, Musk’s engagement with DeepMind’s latest achievement underscores one thing: the race to create the most powerful AI models is heating up — and everyone’s watching.
