Solving Murders While Doing Parkour In India? Indie Mystery Game Detective Dotson Promises All These & More

Detective Dotson needs to find out who the murderer of his father is. And he needs to do lot of puzzles and parkour to get to the answer.

Ever wondered what it would be like to play a murder puzzle video game based in a classic India-based platformer setting? Masala Games, an Ahmedabad-based indie game developer, has unveiled its inaugural PC title, Detective Dotson, scheduled for release on Steam. This mystery adventure game is set in a stylised portrayal of contemporary India, casting players into the shoes of Dotson, an unwilling detective. Interested players can now add the game to their wishlist on the Steam store and even experience a demo available on the platform.

In the Detective Dotson demo, players delve into the enigmatic demise of Detective Dotson’s father. The gameplay involves a series of tasks such as pursuing criminals, gathering evidence, donning disguises, espionage, and assembling a team. While the demo offers a taste of the gameplay, the full version promises additional episodes and is expected to hit the shelves later this year.

Shalin Shodhan, the Founder and CEO of Masala Games, described Detective Dotson as a tribute to modern-day India, drawing inspiration from Bollywood and Indian television series like CID, boasting its own distinctive narrative.

Powered by Unity, Detective Dotson boasts controller support and an original soundtrack collaboratively created with Nikhil Rao of Indian Ocean. Moreover, the game's relatively low system requirements ensure accessibility across a wide range of PCs.
