Battlegrounds Mobile India Bans Over 50,000 Accounts For Cheating In Fresh Round Of Sanctions

BGMI developer Krafton regularly bans accounts which are found cheating to gain an advantage over other players.

New Delhi: Battlegrounds Mobile India, the popular battle royale game, has in a fresh round of sanctions banned over 50,000 accounts for cheating. South Korea-based developer Krafton announced on May 2 that it has banned a fresh lot of players between April 25 and May 1.

Krafton regularly bans accounts which are found cheating to gain an advantage over other players. Such accounts get flagged for downloading the game from unofficial sources, or for using illegal programs on their devices. To better their gameplay, players can unfairly use modified files or banned scripts to easily defeat unsuspecting users. However, Krafton also lets users flag such instances of cheating from within the app itself.

Krafton announced on Monday that it has banned a total of 50,733 Battlegrounds Mobile India accounts for cheating. You can check out the names of the permanently banned accounts here.

As mentioned earlier, Krafton regularly bans cheating accounts to ensure fairness on the platform. On April 26, it banned 51,853 accounts and an additional 41,898 accounts on April 18.

To ensure a smooth experience for Battleground Mobile India players, Krafton also conducts patches regularly. On April 28, it fixed an issue where players were unable to let other users view Popularity settings. Earlier on April 20, the developers announced that it fixed an issue where players were unable to gift the Silvanus’ Memory in-game item to friends.

For those unaware, Battlegrounds Mobile India, popularly known as BGMI, is a rebranded version of PUBG Mobile, which was banned by the Government of India back in 2020 along with 117 other Chinese apps. PUBG Mobile was eventually rebranded as Battlegrounds Mobile India and was relaunched in the country in 2021.
