Fact Check: Keir Starmer Wished Muslims 'Blessed Eid', But Did Post Happy Mother's Day For Britons Too

Evidence shows British PM Keir Starmer posted Mother's Day greetings on three platforms, while his Ramadan well wishes were only on Facebook.

The Verdict [False]

Because we found Starmer’s Mother’s Day posts on three social media platforms, we have marked this claim as false.

The claim

Social media posts falsely claim that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer neglected to wish British mothers a happy Mother's Day on March 30 but did wish Muslims a happy Ramadan.

One X post, posted at 9:22 in the evening on March 30, had gathered over 100,00 views by April 1, reads, "Keir Starmer wished Muslims a happy Ramadan, but refused to wish British mother's [sic] a Happy Mother's Day. He doesn't even hide it anymore. This man is a woman-hating Islamist." Similar posts also circulated on Facebook.

However, Logically Facts has found that there is no basis for this claim.

We found this March 30 post on Keir Starmer's Instagram, wishing mothers a Happy Mother's Day. The date of the post coincides with the celebration of Mother's Day in the United Kingdom. The same post appeared on Keir Starmer's Facebook profile about 30 minutes before his post wishing Muslims a happy Ramadan in recognition of Eid, which fell on the same day as Mother's Day. Starmer also published the Mother's Day post on LinkedIn. Starmer's well wishes for Ramadan only appeared on Facebook. 

Logically Facts has contacted the Prime Minister's office for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The verdict

Starmer posted on multiple social media platforms wishing British mothers a happy Mother's Day. Therefore, we have marked this claim as false.
