'Squid Games' Season 2 On The Cards? Here's What Series' Creator Said
The popular series' fans can rejoice as makers are busy brainstorming for 'Squid Games 2'.
New Delhi: Netflix's popular series 'Squid Games' took the world by storm through its brilliant narrative and amazing acting by the cast. The makers are all set to cast a spell once again by confirming plans for the next season of the record-breaking Netflix original series.
On Monday night, the series' creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, and stars Lee Yung-jae, Park Hae-soo, and Jung Ho-yeon appeared for a special screening and question-and-answer session at the Neuehouse red carpet rolled out by Netflix.
According to a report in Hollywood Reporter, the 'Squid Games' team at the press meet was posed with the question: "When is season two coming?"
Addressing the question, director Hwang replied,"I do have a basic storyline for season 2, its all in my head, and I am currently in the brainstorming stage. It will happen someday, but as for when I cannot tell you the details."
According to a report in ANI, the Hollywood Reporter also reached for comment on the status of Season 2 to a Netflix spokesperson who said,"A second season is in discussions, but not confirmed yet."
According to Netflix, it "only took 17 days" after the Korean series made its debut on September 17, on Netflix, to garner "111 million global fans." The series that has nine-episodes became the streamer's biggest and most popular series, being the first to surpass 100 million views.
With fans going crazy over the series, there was a constant demand for the next season. Hollywood Reporter was quoted as saying by ANI that director Hwang felt the pressure for another season, long before he arrived in Los Angeles.
He said,"There was a lot of pressure for season 2 even when I was in Korea, so I have felt that pressure for a long time. We get on YouTube and see people that have already written season 2 and season 3 for us. Coming here and really seeing how well-received the show is and how much the fans want it, I have been getting the same question by the press as well."
Without disclosing the details, ANI reports that the director teased the theme to the Hollywood Reporter, saying,"What I can say is that Gi-Hun is going to be back, and he will do something for the world."
'Squid Games' revolves around a contest where 456 players, all of whom are in financial debt, risk their lives to play a series of deadly children's games for the chance to win a 45.6 billion prize. However, the game has deadly consequences.
