Harry Potter To Be Adapted Once Again; This Time For TV Series For HBO Max
HBO Max and its then-parent company WarnerMedia started exploring a potential Harry Potter TV series a couple of years ago.
New Delhi: Harry Potter is all set to return on the small screen this time in the form of TV series. As per reports, the world of Hogwarts will return to the TV space. Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. will be producing the series which will be based on bestselling author JK Rowling's seven books. According to Bloomberg, the series will be based on Rowling's books instead of being a 'universe spinoff' such as the Fantastic Beasts films.
"Each season would reportedly draw from one of the books, suggesting an ongoing franchise that would stretch for years for the studio. Under the deal, Rowling would maintain a degree of creative involvement with the series, though she would not serve as primary creator or showrunner,” a Variety report read.

The seven fantasy novels of Harry Potter were adapted into an eight-part global blockbuster film series by Warner Bros. The first film titled 'Harry potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' was released in 2001. The movie franchise concluded in 2011 with 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2' in 2011. The film collected a total of $7.7 billion at the box office.
In 2016, a spin-off prequel series was planned which started with 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' but failed to get that much of a good box office response at the box office. After 'Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore’ failed at the box office, the series stalled.
Meanwhile, the Harry Potter film series still has a strong fan-base having influenced many generations even after a decade since it concluded. In fact, the film series is one of the rare views where the films are said to have been an expansion of the Harry Potter book series.
'Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone' will soon complete 22 years on April 14, 2023. In the original films, Daniel Radcliffe portrayed the rolf of Harry Potter, while Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley and Emma Watson- Hermione Granger.
