'Shark Tank India Season 4' has seen many interesting business ideas and pitches. In its latest episode on Thursday night, a pitch by an entrepreneur for a men's makeup brand impressed the sharks. With a tag line that said 'mardo ke liye makeup', Rahul Shah from Ahmedabad pitched his brand Yaan Man and asked for Rs. 50 lakh in exchange of 6% equity in the business. Shah is a cosmetic chemist and stated that his mission was to get rid of the taboo around men's makeup in India.
How sharks reacted to 'men can use makeup' pitch
Vineeta Singh found Shah's pitch interesting but shared that it would be difficult to get men to use these products. When Anupam claimed that he does not even use any makeup for the TV show, Aman instantly called him out and said, "jhooth (lie)”. Anupam later inspected Yann Man's product range and appreciated the packaging calling it 'appealing from a masculine standpoint'.
Namita Thapar also addressed a stereotype around men not using makeup. She shared that many believe that 'gay men put make up and called it a 'culture and community thing'. To which, Vineeta asked, "Is it?” and immediately shook her head, almost disagreeing with Namita’s claims.
Meanwhile, Aman shared that none of his friends or people around him use makeup because there is "no acceptability” for men using these products.
On the other hand, Peyush Bansal did not look that interested in the product while he praised Rahul’s personality.
Who made the offer first?
Interestingly, Aman Gupta who was not very convinced with men and makeup's business idea was the first to make an offer of Rs 50 lakh for 10 percent of the business. Anupam, who called Rahul 'trustworthy' gave an offer of Rs 50 lakh for 9 percent of the company.
However, Rahul asked them to join hands and after much deliberation, knowing that Aman and Anupam famously don't get along, the two agreed to come to the same table.
As the pitcher asked the two sharks to 'figure' out their differences, the two sharks made a deal of Rs. 1 cr for 20% of the business, which Rahul accepted.
