New Delhi: Ronit Roy has made a name for himself in both the TV and film industry. After portraying the two most iconic characters in Indian TV history: Mihir Virani from 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and Rishabh Bajaj from 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay', Ronit Roy made an iconic comeback in films with Vikramaditya Motwane's critically acclaimed film 'Udaan'.
In a recent interview, the actor shared that he was not the first choice to play the cruel father, Bhairav Singh. Instead, he was initially cast to play Ram Kapoor's role. However, due to some circumstances, he ended up playing the role of Bhairav Singh instead.
In an interaction with Lehren Retro, Ronit recalled, "I don’t think Vikramaditya Motwane saw anything in me. I wasn’t cast for the role of Bhairav Singh. I was cast in Ram Kapoor’s role of Jimmy. The actor who was initially playing Jimmy backed out, so I was called to play that role. Then the actor who was playing Bhairav Singh’s role also backed out. Then Anurag asked me to play the role of Bhairav Singh. Him and Vikram would have had a conversation. I just came home from a shoot at 4am and at around 7:30 am, my wife woke me up and told me that Anurag was waiting outside. He told me, ‘You are doing Bhairav Singh.’ I never asked what transpired. They moved me to play Bhairav Singh and brought in Ram to play Jimmy.”
Ronit shared that after struggling for nine years, when he took his big break in TV space quite seriously. He added that he would work for hours without a break often resulting in him fainting on set. Recalling the same, "I have fainted on sets. Once I fainted three times in the span of one hour. Doctors have been called. My wife Neelam also came. 7 am to 7 pm I would shoot for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and 7 pm to 7 am I would shoot for Kasautii Zindagii Kay. So, technically I had no time to go home.”
