P S Abu, Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s father-in-law and a respected community leader, passed away at 83. His funeral was held at Chembittapally Juma Masjid in Mattancherry.

The family of Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty is in mourning following the passing of his father-in-law, P S Abu. A deeply respected figure in the Mattancherry region of Kerala, P S Abu passed away on Wednesday morning, June 11, at the age of 83, after a prolonged battle with age-related ailments, India Express( Malayalam) reported.

P S Abu wasn’t just a family patriarch, he was also a well-known community leader. As the president of the Ilaya Kovilakam Mahallu, he was instrumental in leading various local religious and welfare activities. He was admired for his humility, quiet strength, and tireless work for the betterment of the Mattancherry area.
Abu was the son of the late Sulaiman Shaib and Amina of the Payattu Paramba House. Known for his dedication to public service, he remained involved in community and religious affairs until his final days.
Funeral Held at Mattancherry Mosque
His funeral took place on the evening of June 11 at the Chembittapally Juma Masjid in Mattancherry. The burial was conducted at 8 PM, drawing a large gathering of family members, friends, and well-wishers from across the region who came to pay their final respects.
P S Abu is survived by his children, including Sulfath, wife of superstar Mammootty. Those who knew him remember a man devoted equally to his family and his community. His passing has led to an outpouring of condolences, as many shared fond memories and paid tribute to a life well lived.
