Maareesan trailer
In 'Maareesan', Fahadh slips into the shoes of a sly and stylish thief, exuding shades reminiscent of his Cyber Patrick character from Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan (2024). He makes a memorable entrance, delivering the line: “Some houses… I feel like they’re calling me. Those are the only ones I ever break into.” He isn’t just a criminal, he’s also a philosophical mind, musing over odd riddles like, “How do fish that live deep underwater end up as food for cranes soaring in the sky?”
His next potential victim appears to be a seemingly naïve elderly man (played by Vadivelu), spotted withdrawing a suspiciously large amount of cash from an ATM. Seizing the moment, Fahadh offers him a ride, only to discover that the man suffers from early-stage Alzheimer’s. Believing this makes the job easier, the thief moves in—until the narrative flips. Vadivelu delivers a line that cuts through the setup, “We have been riding in the same gear for so long now. Why don’t you change the gear?” This cryptic moment hints at the chaos ahead, as the story turns darker and more intense with law enforcement entering the scene, casting a cloud of danger over the journey the duo embarks on.
About Maareesan
'Maareesan' is directed by Sudheesh Sankar, who is best known in Malayalam television circles. He debuted in Tamil cinema with Aarumaname in 2009 and later made the Malayalam film Villali Veeran (2014), which starred Dileep and Namitha Pramod. The latter was panned both critically and publicly for its outdated and misogynistic portrayal of gender roles.
This upcoming thriller also features a strong supporting cast, including Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, PL Thenappan, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja. Music for Maareesan has been scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while V Krishna Moorthy handles the story, screenplay, and dialogues. The cinematography is helmed by Kalaiselvan Sivaji, with editing by Sreejith Sarang.
