'This Movie Came With A Stroke Of Luck...': Shibani Bedi On Getting To Work In 'Thank You For Coming'

ABP Live had a chat with her over a video call during which Shibani shared her role, her experience of working in the film and also shared about the moments spent with Anil Kapoor at TIFF.

Content creator and actor Shibani Bedi recently appeared in the film 'Thank You For Coming,' produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, where she portrayed the role of Tina Das. This movie, written by Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh, features an ensemble cast, including Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, Kusha Kapila, and others.

To get insights into the film, ABP Live had a chat with her over a video call during which Shibani shared her role, and her experience of working in the film and also shared about the moments spent with Anil Kapoor at TIFF.

Talking about her role, Shibani said, "I play the character of Tina Das who is a woman in her mid-30s- single, independent and ambitious. She is also learning and growing and figuring out life as she goes along. She is a mother of a 16-year-old daughter. She is self-reliant and she is trying to be a good mother, a good businesswoman and also stand by her friends all the time. So, at some point, she is also like the mother of her girl gang. That's pretty much the character that I play."

Shibani seemed to have a blast working in the film and continuously thanked her stars for making her a part of such a film. Sharing her experience, she said, "I really enjoyed working on this film. Firstly, when I got to know that I had been selected for a Rhea Kapoor film, I was like... Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, what more can I ask for? When I met Karan, who is the director, it felt very homely and the vibe was like that since the start. Rhea is such an amazing storyteller and I literally felt at home and at ease with them."

"I think this movie came with a stroke of luck and the boxes in my wish list got checked," she added.

The film also starred Anil Kapoor and Shibani also went on to share some experiences she had with him. Talking about this, she said that she didn't get to work with him in the movie but she got to meet and talk to him properly when they went to TIFF.

Narrating the experience she said, "Firstly, I grew up watching his films and jokingly I once told him that my brother and I learnt the Hindi language by watching his films from the 80s and 90s. He is a huge legendary superstar. He used to take care of us there at TIFF and he was so energetic that we were getting flooded with more energy by just being around him."

"When I went to TIFF, initially, I was a bit scared, but on the red carpet then the people came with dhol and the way Anil Sir started dancing with all of us... we did Bhangra and had lots of fun. After that while having dinner also, he was really sweet and encouraging," she went on to say.

As the conversation flowed, Shibani discussed her journey as a content creator and also went on to share whether she gets nervous while auditioning for a film.

"I am not nervous as such because they are also not looking for an Oscar-winning performance when you are auditioning and if you perform according to the brief they have given you, then it's not much of a problem. Nowadays, I am not nervous while doing that but while appearing for the first audition for this film I was quite nervous because that thought came to my mind 'kitna mazaa aayega agar yeh film mil jaaye toh, yeh toh mujher crack karna hi hai.' So, this thought makes me a little nervous as I cannot mess this up. But, the auditioning doesn't make me nervous anymore," she said.

'Thank you For Coming' has hit the theatres on October 6.
