To know more about the film, ABP Live had a conversation with Swaroopa Ghosh over email who talked about her role and the relevance of the film in today's time.
Sharing what made her say 'yes' to the film, Swaroopa said, "I found the script interesting, and exploring an important as well as relevant aspect of identity. The role too was believable for me."
"I play Amma - a mother who is loving, caring and all embracing as long as it doesn't clash with her own child's interest," said Swaroopa, adding, "She is intelligent and subtle in her manipulation of a situation. Though she seems to stay behind the shadow of her husband but actually she is the one who actually steers her husband towards major decisions."
'A Game Of Two Halves' is a coming-of-age film that follows Sanjay, a young British student grappling with questions of belonging. Lost in the pressures of academia, he finds himself in Hyderabad, India, coaching underprivileged kids on the dusty football fields. It's in this unexpected setting, surrounded by vibrant energy and raw talent, that Sanjay unlocks his true self.
Talking about the relevance of the film in today's time, Ghosh said that it lies in the fact it deals with the identity crisis faced by many Indians who are born and brought up in a foreign country.
"The inner turmoil they face to reconnect with their roots, the trials and tribulations of moving away from one' comfort zone, the struggle for existence- all of it is extremely important and raises some important questions as well as exposes our own social boundaries too. The script is layered with socio cultural behavioural pattern and the hidden power-play underneath," she went on to say, mentioning that it is a film for the youngsters.
Written by Shirley Day and produced by Nicola Gregory, Dean Charles and Sheila Nortley under K Squared Films, 2HotFilms & Emineo Films, 'A Game of Two Halves', released on February 23, 2024, promises an emotional journey.
