Tabu To Star In Dune Prophecy Series As Sister Francesca, Joins Emily Watson, Olivia Williams

Tabu in Dune web series: Actress Tabu has joined the cast of the highly anticipated streaming series 'Dune: Prophecy'. She will play a recurring role in this prequel to Denis Villeneuve's 2021 film 'Dune'. 

About Dune: Prophecy

Initially commissioned in 2019 as 'Dune: The Sisterhood', the series draws inspiration from the novel 'Sisterhood of Dune' by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, according to 'Variety'. 

'Dune: Prophecy' is set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, within the expansive universe created by Frank Herbert. The official synopsis reads, “Set within the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.”   

Tabu's role in the series

Tabu will portray Sister Francesca, a character described as "strong, intelligent, and alluring". Once the Emperor's great love, her return to the palace disrupts the power dynamics in the capital. 

The series boasts a star-studded cast including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, and others. The project has faced several hurdles on its way to production, including multiple changes in showrunners and a creative overhaul in 2023. 

Alison Schapker will be the showrunner and executive producer for 'Dune: Prophecy'. 

Tabu's other projects

Tabu was last seen in the film 'Crew', directed by Rajesh A Krishnan. The movie starred Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee, Rajesh Sharma, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

Tabu will next be see in 'Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha' alongside Ajay Devgn. The film is a romantic drama directed by Neeraj Pandey and also stars Jimmy Shergill, Saiee Manjrekar, and Shantanu Maheshwari. The film is slated for release on July 5.
