SSR Case: Esplanade Court Sends Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda To NCB Custody Till 9th September

The NCB is likely to question Rhea Chakraborty soon as she has also been named in the FIR.

New Delhi: Mumbai's Esplanade Court has sent Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik Chakraborty  and Samuel Miranda to NCB custody till 9th September on a four-day remand.The court has sent Kaizen Ibrahim on a 14-day remand. The NCB may also question Rhea Chakraborty soon as she has also been named in the FIR over involvement in procuring drugs.  The NCB has also said that several other revelations will be made in the case. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had sought a 7-day custody of Showik and Samuel Miranda. On Friday, the NCB raided Rhea Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda’s house and after almost 10 long hours of interrogation, arrested her brother and Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda in connection with the ‘drug angle’ in the SSR death case.  The agency has arrested them under IPC sections 20 (B), 28 (counterfeit), 29, and 27 (A). Also, Zaid Vilatra and Abdul Basit Parihar, the alleged drug peddlers, who have been arrested by the NCB, have applied for bail in Mumbai Sessions Court. The NCB team has also reportedly collected crucial data evidence including phone, and laptop after they raided Rhea Chakraborty’s residence yesterday. The NCB has said that Showik Chakraborty, brother of Rhea Chakraborty, used to purchase ganja and marijuana from drug peddler Abdul Basit Parihar and make payments through a Google Pay account. Sushant Singh Rajput’s staff Deepesh Sawant has not been arrested by the NCB but his statement will be recorded as a witness. For Sushant Singh Rajput case the  NCB is the third central agency to join the probe after the ‘drug angle’ emerged in the case. They registered a case against Rhea, her brother Showik, talent manager Jaya Saha, Shruti Modi, and Goa-based hotelier Gaurav Arya under Sections 20 (b), 28, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Showik and Samuel Miranda were also taken for Covid 19 tests and they have tested negative.
