Mumbai Dragonfly Club Raid: Guru Randhawa’s Management Says Singer ‘Was Not Aware Of Night Curfew', Expresses Regret

Mumbai: The Mumbai Police raided the Dragonfly club situated in Hotel JW Marriot in Andheri in the wee hours of Tuesday (December 22, 2020). The Mumbai Police raided the premises of the club at around 3 am in the morning on the instructions of DCP Jian reportedly. 7 staff and 27 customers including Guru Randhawa, Suresh Raina, Sussanne Khan were booked under Section 188 of IPC, Bombay Police Act and Epidemic Disease Act. His management revealed that the singer regrets the uncalled incident and said that Guru was not aware of local authorities’ decision of night curfew in the city. “Guru Randhawa, who had stepped out for dinner with close friends before returning back to Delhi the same morning, deeply regrets the unintentional incident that occurred last night. Unfortunately, he was not aware of local authorities’ decision of night curfew but instantly conformed to all rules laid out by the government officials. He promises to comply with government guidelines and protocols by taking all precautionary measures in the future. By far, he has been a law-abiding citizen and will continue to do so in the future as well”, Guru Randhawa’s management team. BMC Mayor Kishori Pednekar said, “Be it a movie star or a common citizen of India, whatever rules are made, it has to be followed. Rules are made to save everyone's life. Action should be taken against those who do not listen to the rules.” With the spike of COVID-19 cases in the country, the Maharashtra government imposed an 11 pm to 6 am curfew till January 5 in Mumbai and other cities. The current functional time limit for pubs in Mumbai, set by the city's civic body, is 11:30 pm. The Dragonfly Club was operating till 4 am, said the police.
