Mumbai Dragonfly Club Raid: The Mumbai Police raided Dragonfly club situated in Hotel JW Marriot in Andheri in the early hours of Tuesday, at around 2.30 am, and booked cricketer Suresh Raina along with other celebrities under Section 188 of IPC, Bombay Police Act and Epidemic Disease Act. The pub in question was operating till 4 am, the police said. The probability that somebody who is infected with the novel coronavirus can spread it, defines the risk of partying in current scenario. The two major factors influencing this probability are the size of the party or the number of people attending the gathering, and the prevalence of infectious people in the relevant population. With the daily spike in Covid-19 cases, the news comes as shocker, as the celebrities who are role-model for many, flouted the protocol of pandemic. For months, the risk caused by large events, has been a focus of state and media coverage. Government has repeatedly been clearly asking not to promote large gathering and the latest development at Dragonfly club reflects a negligent attitude of celebrities. BMC Mayor Kishori Pednekar said, 'Be it a movie star or  a common citizen of India, whatever rules are made, it has to be followed. Rules are made to save everyone's life. Action should be taken against those who do not listen to the rules'. Maharashtra on Monday imposed an 11 PM to 6 AM night curfew till January 5 in Mumbai and other cities, and announced new quarantine rules for arrivals from the Europe and Middle East, in view of a fast-spreading strain of coronavirus that has emerged in the UK and caused several nations, including India, to temporarily ban flights from that country. Mumbai Police has said 34 people were booked under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and provisions of NMDA.
