New Delhi: 'Tumbbad', the art-house horror movie that had emerged as a darling of critics when it released in 2018, is all set to re-release in theatres. An announcement was made by its makers on their official social media handles on Saturday afternoon. While earlier the film was slated to be released on August 30, it has now been announced that the horror film will be released on Sep 13, 2024.

The new poster, unveiled by the makers through their official social media, exudes the eerie atmosphere which has become synonymous with Tumbbad.Fans are in for an experience of the world of 'Tumbbad', which is a fictional, mythological village.
In the new poster, we see Vinayak Rao, played by Sohum Shah, travel through the night, guiding with a lantern in his hand, with his young son following him. One senses that the two are making a dangerous journey. What adds more to the spine-chilling feel on the poster is the haunting images that show the presence of a shadowy, otherworldly figure who looms in the background as they go in search of the hidden treasure.

This film, by director Rahi Anil Barve, creative director Anand Gandhi, and co-director Adesh Prasad, became popular for its mesmerizing story, stunning cinematography, and production design work.
Penned by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve, and Gandhi, the film was produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah. The story traces Vinayak Rao's fall into greed and obsession as he searches for a fabled treasure protected by a malevolent entity called Hastar.
His filmography also includes critically acclaimed Tumbbad, which won three out of eight nominations at the 64th Filmfare Awards: Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Sound Design.
Besides that, it was the first Indian film to be premiered in the 'Critics' Week' section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival, marking a guarantee of its appeal worldwide in terms of artistic merit.
It stars Sohum Shah in the most brilliant performance, besides having Jyoti Malshe and Anita Date-Kelkar form part of its spooky and engrossing narrative.
