Producer Ratan Jain has confirmed that initial talks with Shah Rukh Khan are taking place about a potential sequel to the classic thriller 'Baazigar'. While the project is still in its early stages with no script or formal commitments, Jain expressed a strong desire to bring SRK on board if 'Baazigar 2' goes ahead. He also said that any sequel would need a compelling storyline that respects the legacy of the original and meets fans’ high expectations.
Shah Rukh Khan to star in Baazigar 2?
In an interview with ETimes, Jain stated that a sequel to 'Baazigar' will "definitely be made,” adding that he has been in frequent contact with Shah Rukh about the idea. He clarified, though, that no major steps have been taken yet. “We keep talking to Shah Rukh about Baazigar 2, but it’s still in the idea phase,” he said.
'Baazigar', directed by Abbas-Mustan, became a huge milestone in Shah Rukh Khan’s career after its 1993 release. Known then for romantic roles, Shah Rukh surprised audiences with his portrayal of Ajay Sharma/Vicky Malhotra, a man driven by revenge. The film also featured Kajol, Shilpa Shetty, Johnny Lever, and Dalip Tahil in key roles.
The original film’s plot centers on a young man’s vendetta against a business tycoon. To seek revenge, he seduces the tycoon’s younger daughter, who soon suspects his connection to her elder sister’s death and his hidden agenda.
