New Delhi: Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Irrfan starrer 2015 release Piku celebrated eight years on Monday. The film that explored the bitter-sweet bond shared between father-daughter won massive praise for its performances and also went down as one of Deepika Padukone’s career’s finest.
Recounting her connection with the film, Deepika Padukone took to social media to pen a heartfelt note. “It’s been 8 years since this gem of a movie released with these 2 very special people. And if I could relive this experience all over again, I’d do it in a heartbeat. @irrfan, I miss you! @amitabhbachchan , @sircarshoojit & @juhic3 I love you! To everyone who made this film possible, thank you for your energy.”

The actor posted a series of photos including the one in which all the three lead actors are seen striking goofy poses.
In a conversation with PTI, Deepika had once said that out of all the characters she has played, she and her sister, professional golfer Anisha Padukone, relate the most to ‘Piku.’
“There was something very special about the energy in that film. I feel, I and my sister (Anisha) are at an age where we are Piku. There is something about ‘Piku’ that is very special. And that’s one of the movies that keep coming up in conversations… The stage of life that I am at now, that seem to be my most favourite (character),” Padukone had told PTI.
The actor also said that during the making of the film everyone’s aim was to give their best.
“I was aware of the fact that I will be opposite these two incredible people but what makes for great collaboration is when you are not competing with your co-stars and you are really genuinely invested in telling a good story and that’s what we are there to do. I don’t think Irrfan was trying to be one up on Mr Bachchan or he was trying to be one up on anyone. It was a beautiful collaborative process and we were invested in giving our best,” she was quoted as saying by PTI.
Piku, directed by Shoojit Sircar, was released in 2015.
