Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen in director Mani Ratnam's ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ after a hiatus of four years. She will be essaying the role of Nandini, Princess of Pazhuvoor, in the film.

The makers of the film are releasing first-look posters of the actors in the film. After releasing the first look of actor Karthi as the Chola army commander Vanthiyathevan and the look of Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, makers have now released Aishwarya’s look in the film.

Sharing the poster, Lyca Productions wrote, "Vengeance has a beautiful face! Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor! #PS1 releasing in theatres on 30th September in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada (sic)."

Aishwarya looks regal in a saree with her hair kept open.

Touted as Mani Ratnam’s dream project, the first part of the film will release on September 30.

The actress had earlier spoken about the project in an interview with Film Companion. “When he came and he shared and he said, ‘You know this is something I wanted to make right at the beginning”. I’m like I’m so privileged and so blessed that he asked me to be a part of his dream,” Aishwarya told Film Companion.

The film, based on the classic Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy, will release in five languages -- Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

The film stars Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala. The music of the film is composed by AR Rahman.
